Poor, poor Cinderella

Got a question for you

How is your happy ever after?

Whoever said Cinderella had a happy ending was a liar

Cooking and cleaning

Having babies and sacrificing

Her body

Her mind

And

Her life

So her so called Prince could have a

Namesake

Another creation in his image

Another hard headed boy

or girl that will create more drama

In an already drama filled world

Cinderella was blind

Thinking that a happy ending

would come

After her gracious prince gave her

a ring

All her problems arisen from that

oh yet beautiful jestor

It created more problems

Unbearable to handle

Unbearable to control

Little ankle bitters

Pulling at her apron

Asking never-ending questions

Why this? Why that? Why, why?

If that’s not enough

crying

Crying to be changed

Crying to be feed

Crying to be held

Crying to be let go

Crying to get his or her way

Crying to avoid a spanking

Crying to hear themselves cry

Crying to annoy you

Just NON-STOP crying!!!

Cinderella was blind I tell you

That’s why you don’t hear about

after the happy ever after

Because there is none

Happy ever after is an image that

life is easy

If life was easy

Why do people

Commit suicide?

Commit murder?

Commit adultery?

Commit robbery?

Commit rape?

If life was

As easy as Disney put it

Wouldn’t we be living happily ever after

So, in short,

Keep your happy ever after and

give me a break

deal with reality

Life is messy

Life is unkind

Life is fun

Life is hard

Life is living beyond the b.s

And being happy without the happily ever after

Life is the unknown and getting through to the other side

Breathing and smiling

And going back for more

  1. I like the way you rolled the story after it was supposed to be rainbows and butterflies. Doc Holliday said it best on his death bed…”There’s no regular life. There’s just Life.”

If there isn’t anything to take from this, its live life to be happy. If you can avoid the pains of life, good. If not, get some friends to share it with…lol

    1. Thank you ,I’m catching up too . Trying to do something that’s easy as breathing. I have put in motion a challenge to myself to write a poem once a day and post it. So welcome to my journey while I figure it out.
